Fort Lauderdale, Fl – Silver Airways announced it accepted delivery of two more Saab 340Bplus aircraft, bringing the carrier fleet’s total Saabs to six. The Fort Lauderdale-based airline expects to integrate a total of 12 Saab 340Bplus aircraft into its fleet by September 2012.
Silver Airways’ fifth Saab 340Bplus is named Team Victory in recognition of Victory Park Capital, the Chicago-based investment firm that owns Silver Airways, and the winning attitude ingrained in the airline’s corporate culture. The name of the sixth Saab 340Bplus, Momentum, references the positive strides being made by the Silver Airways management and staff in building a world-class airline.
Each Saab 340Bplus features comfortable seating for 34 passengers, large, easy-to-access overhead bins, personalized flight attendant service, an active noise reduction system and on-board lavatories. The new aircraft will be used to upgrade service on Silver Airways’ Florida-Bahamas routes.
Darrell Richardson, CEO of Silver Airways, commented on the fleet expansion, saying: “By the end of the year, the 12 Saabs we’re acquiring will enable us to increase flights in Florida and Bahamas routes by 30%. At the same time, our seat capacity will grow by nearly 75%, strengthening our leadership position in these markets.”
Silver Airways received United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to operate the Saab 340Bplus aircraft type in March 2012. The two newest Saabs to enter the Silver Airways fleet – Team Victory and Momentum – are expected to begin operating scheduled passenger service on June 1, 2012.
