At least 11 people are confirmed dead after a vessel with 28 people on board went down in waters off Crown Haven, North Abaco, Sunday night.
Among the dead are six women, whose ages were placed between 18 and 34; four boys, whose ages are between eight and 10, and one girl believed to be between eight and 10, according to police press liaison officer Inspector Chrislyn Skippings.
Reports are that the 25-foot vessel, “Glory Time”, carrying the passengers, believed to be Haitians, departed from Farm Hill near Treasure Cay, Abaco, around 5 p.m. Sunday.
Skippings said it is believed that the vessel was headed to South Florida.
Five survivors were found yesterday, according to police. Twelve people were unaccounted for.
