Police officers discovered the lifeless, bullet-riddled body of a 33-year-old black male on East Indianman Road Saturday afternoon.
The man who was gunned down has become Grand Bahama’s sixth homicide for 2012.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at 4:23 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, notifying them of gunshots heard in the Yeoman Wood area.
When officers arrived on East Indianman Road West near Spoonbill Loop, they discovered the body of the 33-year-old man lying on the ground, fully clothed.
The victim, a resident of Freeport had suffered several gunshot wounds about the body.
Police at this time are not aware of the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and a motive for the shooting is unclear.
The identity of the man is still unknown.
Police are appealing to residents of the area or anyone in the area at the time the homicide took place that may have seen someone running away from the scene of the crime or noticed a vehicle driving away from the area at a high speed to call officers with any information they may have.

In the meantime, officers from the Central Detective Unit are continuing their investigation into this latest homicide.
Thirty-year-old mother Natacha Mondelis became the island’s first homicide victim of 2012.
The young mother was stabbed several times and her throat was slit during a domestic incident through Jack Smith Corner in the Hanna Hill, Eight Mile Rock community on January 9.
Forty-six-year-old Franklyn McIntosh became the island’s second homicide victim after his body was discovered on the side of the road on Kennedy Drive shortly before 3:00 a.m. on January 19.
The victim suffered a wound to the head and his vehicle was discovered hours later on Watkins Lane.
Grand Bahama recorded its third homicide for the year on March 3 when 36-year-old Allend Fertil was killed in the South Bahamia area.
The victim’s lifeless body was found lying on the ground at the rear of an apartment building with several gunshot wounds about the body.
Thirty-eight-year-old Willie Noah Bethel was Grand Bahama’s fourth homicide victim.
Bethel was fatally shot on April 8 during an armed robbery when three armed men entered a building occupied by himself and several others on Hearn Lane in the Garden Villas area and demanded cash.
Bethel who was shot during the robbery died shortly after at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
The island’s fifth homicide victim was 46-year-old Peter Beneby also known as Peter Charlton who was stabbed to death in the I-95 area of Pinedale, Eight Mile Rock on May 14.
Beneby was found at the rear of a home with stab wounds to his upper back.
