Google is to buy travel guidebooks brand, Frommer’s, for an undisclosed amount.
Frommers is a travel guidebook series and one of the bestselling travel guides in America. It is popular among travelers seeking cheap airfares, bargain rate cruises, discounted hotel rooms, budget car rentals and money-saving advice. The guide books offers information and reviews written by travel experts.
The Internet giant is buying the travel guide maker from John Wiley & Sons to expand its local and travel search results.
The deal comes nearly a year after Google bought the Zagat guidebooks.
A Google spokeswoman said it would initially keep the Frommer’s brand but would eventually integrate the content with Zagat.
“The Frommer’s team and the quality and scope of their content will be a great addition to the Zagat team. We can’t wait to start working with them on our goal to provide a review for every relevant place in the world,” Google said in a statement.
