Bristol Wines and Spirits, Wine Director, Rusty Scates has announced plans to ensure that the 2012 Wine Festival will be “An event to remember”.
Mr. Scates noted “Bristol Wines and Spirits is once again the major sponsor of the Bahamas National Trust Wine and Arts Festival. The 22nd Annual Festival is scheduled for Saturday October 27th at the Retreat, Village Road, commencing at 12 mid-day. We will have a record number of 59 wines from around the world, available for tasting.”
“These include wines from Bristol Wines & Spirits’ new division “1er Cru’, such as Palo Alto Shiraz Rose from Chile, ‘Givrey’ from Chanson Pere et Fils, Burgundy France, 689 Napa Valley red from Six Eight Nine Cellars and Chateau Les Trois Croix from Bordeaux produced by Patrick Leon former winemaker at Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Opus One and Almaviva of Chile.”
The festival this year will feature several overseas wine experts including Tamara Flores, representing the Vina Maipo Winery in Chile and Trivento of Argentina.
Tamara is in charge of wine training and product knowledge for these wineries and will conduct two tutored tastings during the afternoon, featuring the upper range wines of Trivento and the other upper end of Vina Maipo.
Nicolas Happke export manager for the Caribbean will be representing the Concha y Toro Winery of Chile, and will introduce the Marques de Casa Concha range of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Alain Riviere from France will make his second appearance at the Wine & Art Festival and will be exhibiting “Whispering Angel” Rose from Chateau D’Esclans , Provence, Chateau Les Trois Croix, Fronsac, Bordeaux and Sacha Lichine Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Merlot blend.
The sparkling wine this year is Graham beck brut from the Western Cape wine area of South Africa. This blend of 49% Chardonnay and 51% Pinot Noir is produced by the Methodé Cap Classique or Champagne Method and is always well received. A perfect way to celebrate the Festival.
The annual Wine and Arts Festival is a major fund raising event for the Bahamas National Trust and this year will present patrons with the artworks of over forty artists and the opportunity to sample 59 wines presented by Bristol Wines and Spirits.
