In July 2012, Fash|Art announced its charitable partnership with R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas; an organization dedicated to supporting children and families affected by autism. The organization’s latest project is “19 Plus”; a program that will assist autistic individuals in becoming acclimated to the working society and developing their independence.
Fash|Art organizers reached out to the very supportive First Lady; Mrs. Bernadette Christie, wife of Prime Minister Perry G. Christie, and mother of an autistic son over the age of 19, to assist in prompting this cause.
“Mrs. Christie answered me right away with a sure ‘yes’ when I contacted, with some doubt of course. She spoke of her challenges, that I know many families with autistic children deal with, but she was still willing to lend her support. I was so grateful for that”, says Mr. Kedar Clarke, Founder of Fash|Art.
This year’s Fash|Art team created “The Blue Bracelet”; fashionable trendy beads to be sold to assist in raising funds for the “19 Plus” project. Persons wishing to purchase their beads can do so during this year’s event on November 2nd and 3rd, 2012.
“Blue” is the world recognized color for autism, along with the “puzzle piece” symbol.
Fash|Art is an emerging Fashion and Visual Arts Design competition organized by Fashion & Style enthusiast Kedar Clarke and Stylezine Magazine. The event aims to uncover Bahamian talents, present them with the opportunity to launch their careers and groom them into tomorrow’s top creative minds!
