Copper thieves caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages after stripping the electrical wiring from the circle at the airport.
The theft will mean there will be no light decorations in the area to serve as a greeting for tourists and residents this Christmas.
Thieves are also targeting street signs as a way to supplement their income with more than 300 being taken in the past months.
The damage to the circle, which was discovered last Thursday, was not only to the electrical installation, but the sprinkler system which feeds off of the electrical system, Grand Bahama Port Authority City Manager Troy McIntosh explained.
The circle at the Domestic Section of the Grand Bahama Airport serves as the main welcome feature which displays an array of lights during the Yuletide season and, at one point, year round.
Work crews arrived on Thursday to begin setting up for the annual Tree Lighting when they discovered the damage.
