Police arrested two 22-year-old men on Sunday in connection with the shooting deaths of Kenton Dion ‘Emperor’ Knowles; his son, Dario Knowles, and seven other men who have been murdered in the country.
‘Emperor’ Knowles, 40, was taken out by machine gun fire last July, while riding a motorcycle near the roundabout at Faith Avenue and Sir Milo Butler Highway. No one has so far been charged with his murder.
Dario Knowles, 25, was shot and killed on November 25 – nearly a year-and-a-half later – on Lincoln Boulevard off Cordeaux Avenue.
Police believe both killings were gang related.
The unidentified suspects are also being questioned in connection with the shooting deaths of police reservist Dennis Clarke, 56; Garth Major, 41; Neremy Noel, 35; Union Village community leader Neil Percentie, 35; Oslworth Belle; Bahamasair pilot Lionel McQueen, 29, and Montez Saunders, McQueen’s cousin and roommate.
Major, of Zinna Court, Kennedy Subdivision, was the country’s 104th murder victim for the year so far. He was killed outside his home late Friday night.
He was approached by two men wearing black hooded jackets as he arrived at this shortly before midnight, police said.
Another two men were previously charged with the murder of Dennis Clarke, who was off-duty at the time of his killing.
According to police, Clarke was outside Superwash on Prince Charles Drive on May 31 when the occupants of a Toyota parked in front of the store approached and shot him.
The two accused men, Clemson Edgecombe, 22, and Andrew Gibson, 28, are awaiting trial.
Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade is expected to make a public statement on the multiple murder investigation in the coming days, according to police sources.
Meanwhile, police are also questioning a 29-year-old man of Gamble Heights in connection with the shooting death of Diego ‘Yellow’ Major, 23.
According to police reports, Major, a Gamble Heights resident was found dead on Sunrise Road last week Monday with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Police have also identified a man who was shot early Thursday morning and died in hospital several hours later as Patrick Thompson, 22, of Bulldog Alley off East Street.
Thompson was the 103rd murder victim for 2012.
