Biologists studying in the Bimini islands have been tagging great hammerhead sharks in an effort to understand more about the movements and behaviour of these large enigmatic creatures.
Although little is known about the migratory movements of great hammerhead sharks the results of the tagging system have shown that the same sharks return to these waters, possibly on a route.
Since the conservation project began three years ago, researchers at Bimini Biological Field Station have reported tagged hammerheads returning to the Bimini site during the early months of the year.
