On Tuesday, January 29, the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) invited officials from three local charities to the PHA’s corporate offices to receive donations on behalf of their respective organisations totalling two thousand dollars ($2000) as well as food stuffs. The funds were raised by PHA staff members as part of PHA’s New Year celebrations.
Mrs. Hannah Gray, Deputy Managing Director (PHA) welcomed Ricardo Miller (on behalf of Mr. Mario Carey, President) representing R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas, Carlene Smith (on behalf of Lady Camille Barnett) representing the AIDS Foundation of The Bahamas and Ms. Olivia Major Administrator of the Bilney Lane Children’s Home.
R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas and the AIDS Foundation each received checks for one thousand dollars ($1000) and the Bilney Lane Children’s Home received food stuffs including bales of flour, sugar and noodles.
The Public Hospitals Authority enjoys a rich tradition of supporting local charities. In the past the PHA’s Mega Men Association has assisted the Randfurly Home for Children and the local chapter of the Special Olympics. PHA staff members also raised funds and donated food stuffs to the Bahamas Red Cross in the wake of past hurricanes and the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
