Konstantin Kavrakov, a 29-year-old Bulgarian tourist visiting The Bahamas from Bolivia, was arrested at the Nassau Palm Hotel on Wednesday for possessing three grams of cocaine.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell ordered that Kavrakov must pay the court $500 or go to prison for six months.
Kavrakov said he had $1,400 in his luggage when police arrested him but that he had not been given a receipt. With that money gone, he would need a few days to have money transferred through Western Union.
The magistrate said she would have her staff look into the matter.
