Parliamentarians came face to face with frustrated family members of three men who died in police custody and another who was shot and killed by police.
When Minister of National Security Dr. Bernard Nottage arrived in Rawson Square around 9:30 a.m.,
The men’s relatives were shouting that they wanted justice. The minister proceeded into the House of Assembly without acknowledging the crowd a few feet away.
Among the protestors was Tabitha Munnings, whose brother Job ‘Mr. Versatile’ Munnings, 34, was shot dead by police in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, on January 23.
After the minister passed, Munnings dropped to her knees and burst into tears.
Bishop Ivan Strachan, Munnings’ uncle, called the sequence of events an “injustice”.
In opposition, Nottage was a passionate advocate for crime victims and strong in his concerns about alleged police abuse.
