The Ministry of Health wishes to advise the general public that a voluntary recall of Loratadine syrup has been brought to our attention.
The Loratadine Syrup was manufactured by Health 2000 Inc. and made in India. Manufactured date is May 2012 and expiry date is April 2015. The affected batch numbers are LB-1202 and LB-1212.
The syrup is being recalled due to the fact that the product appears cloudy on inspection. It should be clear when consumed.
Given this appearance of the product, it has been determined that a recall is in the best interest of the public. In an effort to ensure that the health and safety of the Bahamian public is protected, the Ministry of Health is requesting that all bottles of this product be removed from stock shelves and discarded.
The general public is advised that if they have the product in their homes, it is to be discarded (thrown away).
If Loratadine has been transferred into a bottle where one cannot identify the manufacturer or other pertinent information, then this too should be discarded. Please note that there have been no reports in The Bahamas of adverse effects or complaints related to these products, and thus this is a voluntary recall.
Patients who are currently taking this medication, and who have any questions, are advised to contact their nearest healthcare provider or clinic for replacement or evaluation.
