Three people were killed and over 100 were injured on Monday, April 15, 2013 by two explosives that detonated within seconds of each other at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
The two blasts occurred around 2:50pm on Boylston Street and were about 50-to-100 yards apart.
“Somebody’s leg flew by my head,” spectator John Ross told the Boston Herald. “I gave my belt to stop the blood.”
Less than 90 minutes later, a third incident at the JFK Library caused confusion among the bystanders and investigators, but is considered to be unrelated.
The bombings are suspected to be linked to terrorism.
