Thanks to all those problems passengers had on that Triumph cruise ship, you can now go on a cruise for less than it costs to stay at a Motel 6. Carnival is now offering a four-day Bahamas cruise for $149 total, including meals and some beverages. Travel agents say cruise line prices are coming down, after thousands of passengers were stranded on the Triumph in February following an engine fire.
In the meantime, Zillow is warning that home prices in some cities are about to drop. The real estate information company says paychecks aren’t growing fast enough to keep up with rising homes prices, leaving housing markets in San Jose, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego and Denver vulnerable to new drops.
And health and environmental groups are launching a national campaign Thursday asking 10 major retailers including Walmart, Home Depot and Costco to take products containing hazardous chemicals off store shelves. USA Today says the groups list at least 100 chemicals in clothing, shampoo, sofas and food packaging.
Investors are watching for President Obama’s fiscal 2014 budget coming out Wednesday.
