Two young men accused of the recent robbery and shooting of a senior police officer were recently charged in Magistrate’s Court.
Excell Josey, 21, and Maurice Armbrister, 23, were under heavy-duty police supervision as they were escorted to arraignment before returning to Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez’s court for the late-night assault on Supt. Clayton Fernander.
According to reports, both men attempted to rob and murder Supt. Fernander at his home in the St. Vincent Road area. Fernander was shot multiple times but he survived the attack.
Following the arraignment and before the accused men were remanded to Her Majesty’ Prison, Attorney Roberto Reckley complained of police brutality on behalf of his client.
Both Josey and Armbrister claim that they were assaulted while in police custody.
Both men plead not guilty.
