A female police officer and a man were arrested at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in connection with a drug seizure, police confirmed over the weekend.
They were allegedly found in possession of $64,000 worth of suspected cocaine.
A senior police officer, who wished not to be named, said the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence arrested the 27-year-old officer and the 33-year-old man of New Providence at the airport’s departure lounge around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were unclear up to press time.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the matter.
According to police sources, Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade is expected to make a statement on the arrest sometime today.
