Five Charged in Police Woman Assault

An 18-year-old adult male and four juveniles appeared in a Freeport Magistrate Court to face charges in connection to an assault on a female police officer at a Freeport High School last week.

Tristan Collie, 18, and a juvenile male were arraigned for obstruction before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones in Court 3 on Wednesday.

Three juvenile females also faced charges in connection with the incident which allegedly occurred on the Jack Hayward High School campus, Wild Cat Alley.

The females faced a laundry list of charges, namely obscene language, assaulting a police officer, disorderly behavior, resisting arrest and causing damage.

The incident was circulated on social media via photos and a video of the clash between a student and a female officer last weekend.

The three juvenile females and one juvenile male, all believed to be students at that school at the time, pleaded not guilty, were released on $1,000 bail and ordered to return before the Juvenile Panel for trial on June 28.

Collie also pleaded not guilty and was released on $1,000 bail.

He is expected to return to court on November 12 for trial.
