Abaco police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and left a pedestrian injured on the S C Bootle Highway in Crown Haven around 10:22pm on Friday.
A man was walking west on the highway, near the Church of God of Prophecy, when he was struck by a passing vehicle, which did not stop. The victim was treated for injuries and is in stable condition
Unfortunately, hit and runs are a common occurrence in the Bahamas and usually the offending driver is never found, or charged. Such was the case with the recent high-profile hit-and-run murders of Jill and Ron Gandza – the Canadian couple killed in Exuma while walking near their vacation home.
Though the killing driver was found, the individual was never charged despite having crashed into two people causing their deaths and then callously leaving the scene. It is suspected that the individual, who was never named, is well-connected.
