Authorities have rescued a pilot who crashed landed his small plane in the Bahamas.
The U.S. Coast Guard and Bahamian officials say the plane went down in the water en route to Exuma International Airport. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Gabe Somma says the Cessna took off Tuesday from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue helicopter from a U.S. military base on Andros Island but a Bahamian maritime police unit reached the pilot first.
The pilot is identified as Jefferson Freitas. His hometown and nationality are not immediately available.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
