Today, the Bahamas continues to lose too many of the men to drugs, gangs, and violence. Many persons may believe that all Bahamian men are on a downward spiral of recklessness and lawlessness.
On Sunday, September 15, 2013, Real Men Ministries International celebrated the good that men are doing in the country by honoring over 40 men for their contributions towards the growth and development of the country.
Amongst the honorees, Atario Mitchell, President of Bahamas Striping and Airport Maintenance Services Ltd, received an award for his contributions to Business. Mr. Mitchell said, “he is pleased to receive the award because he is realizing that he is making a positive impact on many persons.”
Mr. Mitchell also added, “As a man that is grounded in his Christian principles, he believes that his faith is what drives his success, and affords him the opportunity to help his country, and change at least one person’s life, and he is committed to uplifting and building the Bahamas.”
Real Men Ministries International, is an international, non profit organization which was founded by Dr. Myles Munroe solely to continue to uplift men and make men the focus. Event organizer, Mr. Kevin Harris said that Atario was a unanimous choice for the Real Men Ministries International Board.
“Like so many Bahamians, we have had the pleasure of watching Mr. Mitchell grow from being a new entrepreneur into a successful business man. Atario’s story is the perfect example of what one can accomplish when armed with a dream, passion and focus. He is truly an inspiration to thousands of young people especially young men who are in desperate need of positive Bahamian role models,” he said.
Dr. Myles Munroe, Senior Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International indicated, “that he is moved by Atario and the rest of the honorees for accepting and receiving the awards because they give their life and no one gives to them. These men are the fabric of our society and its development, and it is important to honour persons who are doing important things.”
He added, “God gave men work, and told them to cultivate everything, to bring out the best in everything and improve things. A man should work and become something and the person who they are destined to be. The men are the foundation of our country, and what happens to our country, depends on the men. The male is the root of the tree, and if Bahamians want to have a strong Bahamas and a stable economy, we must focus on the men. This is why the men in our society are weakened, and we have to stand by them and correct our men, they must be a priority. Men like Atario, and the other honourees, are great role models and mentors, and we need more of them in our country.”
