Four men who were arraigned in a magistrate’s court on several charges connected to a drug bust last week in Andros were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons until their trial in March.
Zintworn Opara Duncombe, 28, of Fresh Creek, Andros; Kenwood Sam Smith, 37, of Behring Point, Andros; Dario Theo Cash, 21, of #1 Cox Street, Fox Hill, and Branaldo Clarenceo Young, 28, of Mars Bay, South Andros, appeared before Magistrate James Moxey in Court #8 on Nassau Street.
Prosecutor ASP Durcell Dorsett told the court that the four men are charged with conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs; conspiracy to import dangerous drugs; possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply and importation of dangerous drugs.
It is alleged that they conspired to import Indian hemp between August 12 and August 28.
The men were allegedly found with 1,201 pounds of Indian hemp on August 28 at Mars Bay, South Andros.
All four men pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Duncombe, Smith and Cash were also charged with possession of Indian hemp with intent to supply and importing dangerous drugs stemming from an incident on August 27, 2013 at Mangrove Cay. They were allegedly found with 10 pounds of Indian hemp.
They all pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Young was also charged with possession of 10 pounds of Indian hemp with intent to supply stemming from an incident on August 27. He pleaded not guilty.
The defendants were not eligible for bail and were remanded to prison until their cases are heard on March 24 and 25, 2014.
