Twenty-two-year-old Allen Jeffrey Nichols was arrested in Florida on September 19 in connection with the theft of Golden Knight Demetrius Pinder’s Olympic gold medal.
Nichols was charged with grand theft, a second degree felony.
Officials uncovered the medal later that day as Nichols did not have the 24-carat medal on him at the time of arrest.
Mr Pinder, who won the medal as part of the 4×400 meter relay team for the Bahamas, said the medal was stolen from his truck on September 11 when he accidentally left it in the centre console.
