Young Child Dead, Mother In Hospital After Hit And Run

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident that has left a 3 year old boy dead and a 26 year old woman detained in hospital on Wednesday 11th December 2013.

The preliminary investigation reveals that around 6:00am the woman was walking east on St. Vincent Road pushing her 3-year-old son in a stroller, when a vehicle travelling in a westerly direction struck them. The vehicle dragged the toddler for a short distance and sped off failing to stop at the scene of the accident. The toddler succumbed to his injuries at the scene and the mother was taken to hospital where she is detained in critical condition.

Police believe that the vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run accident is possibly a dark Honda or an Explorer with front-end damage.
