Murder and Attempted Murder Trial Discontinued

crimeA  murder and attempted murder trial against three defendants came to an abrupt end yesterday when the attorney general entered a nolle prosequi.

Prosecutors alleged that Anthorn Smith, aka Breadman; Allan Knowles, aka Shorts, and Owen McKenzie, aka Cat, fatally shot Christeria Brown on September 17, 2010 and attempted to murder her boyfriend Dario Rolle.

Brown and her boyfriend were shot as they slept at a home in Garden Hills. She died as a result of her injuries while Rolle was left with multiple gunshot wounds to his jaw and arm.

Prosecutors called crime scene officers when they opened their case on Monday.

Attorneys Murrio Ducille for Smith, Bernard Ferguson for Knowles and Michael Kemp for McKenzie did not ask witnesses any questions. Linda Evans prosecuted.

Justice Vera Watkins dismissed the jury panel after receiving the directive to stop the case.

However, she advised the defendants that the nolle was not an acquittal and the Crown reserved the right to recall the case.
