On Tuesday, August 5th, the United States Embassy in partnership with the Bahamas Football Association and Special Olympics Bahamas will coordinate a youth outreach activity at the new Thomas A. Robinson Stadium. The United States’ men’s Olympic soccer team and The Bahamas’ men’s national soccer team will teach basic soccer drills to 35 athletes from Special Olympics Bahamas.
Both the United States Embassy and the Bahamas Football Association have developed partnerships with Special Olympics Bahamas and the event will support the Embassy’s efforts to engage in sporting activities that promote social inclusion for children with intellectual disabilities. The outreach is a prelude to an international friendly soccer match between the USA and The Bahamas that will be played at the new Thomas A. Robinson Stadium on the evening of August 6th, a first for The Bahamas.
