Educators that participated in a 126-hour professional development course during Summer 2014 paid a courtesy call to OAS Bahamas and received their certificates for successfully completing the OAS International Intel Project Based Learning Course.
Educators, that were scholarship recipients for the course, shined as they represented the Bahamas among more than 30 participants from more than 20 other OAS countries in the web based course.
The course which focused on using specific classroom scenarios, which allowed teachers to explore characteristics and benefits of Project- Based Learning (PBL) in 21st century classrooms. Throughout the course, teachers reviewed their current integration of ICT and consider methods to further develop this in the future.
Planning and project design modules guided teachers through organizing the curriculum, the classroom, and students for successful 21st century projects. The assessment module demonstrated strategies for assessing students’ 21st century skills throughout an open-ended project. Overall the course offered opportunities to apply ICT integration and PBL concepts with action planning exercise.
