‘Potcakin’, a one-man show of paintings by Trevor Tucker, will hold its official Opening on Sunday, May 24 from 4-7pm at Doongalik Studios Art Gallery on Village Road.
Trevor Tucker was born on March 2nd 1977 in Nassau, Bahamas where he currently lives and works. As an artist, teacher, husband, and father of two, Tucker is always looking for new ways to express his creativity.
In 2012 he decided to expand his horizons into the commercial sale of his art with the creation of his business ‘Trevor Tucker Original Bahamian Art’. Tucker has been influenced by many styles and artists over the years – from stained glass with its transparencies and multiple images, to the flowing qualities of Art Nouveaux.
‘Potcakin’ is a combination of these styles that have helped him to grow as an artist. Living in a country that is so blessed with natural beauty derived from the land, sea and sky exposes him to a constant source of inspiration and his preference is to focus mainly on nature and animal-based themes.
These images are usually captured with strong compositions, expressive brush strokes and a bright color palette. ‘Potcakin’ is a joyful exhibition of acrylic paintings which highlights Bahamian nature in many forms, and will be sure to boost the audience’s spirit.
The Exhibition will be on display until Saturday June 6. Gallery hours are Monday – Wednesday from 10am – 4pm and Saturdays from 9am – 1pm.
