Art is a choice. A choice to see a vision brought to life through whatever medium the sharer wishes. It cannot be defined or confined to any specific explanation, after all art is what you make of it. The event “Art IS” seeks to gather artistes of all genres in one spot on a weekly basis in order for an outpouring of talent to take place. A sharing if you will, an opportunity to network and opine about the arts in all it’s forms. Picture it: It’s 8:30pm the mc checks the mic to make sure it’s working, the open mic is called to order. Over on the couches patrons are sipping drinks from the coffee shop bobbing their heads as verbs and adjectives drip from unseasoned tongues. While artistes paint their hearts away inspired.
It’s 9:30pm the featured guests have arrived the three piece band strikes up, the congo drums are beating a hypnotic rhythm the acoustic guitar picks up the tempo as the double bass hums its heart out… ART IS being made.
The goal of this forum is to create a unique space where artists may express their art freely and receive appreciation for their contribution. Also, the goal is to challenge the artist to perform at their optimal level each time they appear.
-ART IS- is an acoustic vibe…performers are encouraged to focus on their lyrical content- the “Art Is Band”, a triad of gifted musicians, backs up all featured artistes.
ART IS… Discussion. Feedback is necessary if one wants to grow. The artist can request it by asking at the mix and mingle after the show ends.
