Cable Bahamas is joining voice over cable and announced on Wednesday it will be the first to offer high-quality IP telephone service.
With many Bahamians now utilising The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC)s VIBE service, the introduction of this new service will provide customers with another option.
Cable Bahamas disclosed that they have selected Nokia Siemens Networks’ platforms and services to roll out the services.
The leading cable and broadband service provider in The Bahamas boasts that the high-quality service will be attractively priced.
“We are seeing an increased demand for converged communications services among our subscribers,” Cable Bahamas Chief Executive Officer and President, Tony Butler said in a release.
Michael Jakob, head of business development for the Caribbean at Nokia Siemens Networks, also pointed out in the release that convergence is a big opportunity for communications service providers.
Cable Bahamas is expected to launch its fixed line voice service in August 2011.
