Several areas of the New Providence experienced yet another round of load-shedding yesterday, despite the Bahamas Electricity Corporation’s recent promises that there would be no more rolling blackouts on the island.
In a statement issued by BEC management, they said they are experiencing generation shortfall once again due to further challenges with two generators.
The company is expecting rental generators in later this month but the implication is also that there could be more load-shedding before that happens.
“BEC expects the 20 MW of standby generator units to be operable by mid-August. Similarly, the Corporation continues to refer to its Generation Assistance Plan (GAP) to limit the number of customers impacted during periods of shortfall.”
