The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) had to be locked down by police early Sunday morning, after the family of a shooting victim flooded the emergency room when they heard their loved one may have died from his injuries, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Glenn Miller.
However, Miller said the information the family received was incorrect. The man who had been shot was rushed into surgery and was still alive.
He said hospital staff became so alarmed by the number of people who came to the Accident and Emergency section of the hospital that they called police.
The man, a woman and a one-year-old baby were at home when someone shot at them, the reports said.
The man was taken to PMH by emergency medical services personnel where he was detained in critical condition, according to police.
