Committee Picks On Road Project

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Assembly has started a probe into how public funds are being spent on the New Providence Road Improvement    Project,    the most controversial infrastructure project undertaken by the Ingraham administration since coming to office in 2007.

The committee met this week and has in hand the contract between the government and the Argentinian firm Jose Cartellone Construcciones Civiles (JCCC).

Members of the committee are now picking apart that contract and have requested additional information connected to the controversial road works.

The committee is the one area of Parliament where the official opposition is able to exercise power because it has a majority.
