Killers Shot Wrong Man

A relative of Robbie Rolle, who was murdered two days ago in a home invasion, has told a local newspaper that he believes the killers got the wrong man.

The relative, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that the real target may have been a man scheduled to act as a witness in an upcoming murder trial.

The witness apparently parked his car near the place where Rolle was gunned down.

Police have refused to comment on the “wrong man” theory.

The killing of witnesses is a serious problem in The Bahamas, causing many witnesses to not come forward or not appear at trials.  Most people who commit serious crimes in the Bahamas are released on bail, making it easy for them to intimidate, threaten or kill witnesses.

Mr Rolle was shot to death early Tuesday morning when three gunmen forced their way into the apartment, off Soldier Road, where Rolle, his girlfriend and two children were sleeping.

Mr Rolle died at the scene, his girlfriend was wounded. The two children were unharmed.

The family gave positive identification of Mr Rolle’s body yesterday.

Anyone with information on this crime should contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or CrimeStoppers at 328-tips.
