Bendrico Bain, one of three men suspected in that brazen home invasion and armed robbery in Pioneer’s Loop last week, was arraigned yesterday in a Freeport Magistrates Court.
The Russell Town, Eight Mile Rock man was charged with one count of housebreaking and another count of armed robbery.
Police say armed robbers were stopped in the process of robbing a home in the Pioneer’s Loop area early Wednesday morning after officers reportedly caught them in the act.
The suspects had reportedly kicked in the door of the home, gained access, held the occupants at bay and demanded cash.
Police received a call around 5:28am on October 26, about a report that three males, dressed in dark clothing, were seen jumping the fence of a nearby yard.
According to police, it was as a result of the quick action of the officers that the suspects were interrupted mid-robbery and attempted to flee.
When officers arrived, the men were reportedly attempting to run away, heading toward a service road.
Officers chased the suspects and eventually caught up with one of them and took him into custody.
During the ordeal, police managed to recover a firearm and several rounds of ammunition for another firearm.
Police say the officers also recovered some of the items taken from the home during the robbery.
Eighteen-year-old Bain appeared in Magistrates Courts 1 and 2 and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until March 5, 2012.
During that time, he will serve a 75-day sentence for another matter.
