In a Tribune exclusive, five constituencies were identified as the key areas necessary to determine a victory for either the PLP or FNM in the 2012 general election. Those constituencies, outlined by the Boundaries Commission report, are the new Elizabeth, Sea Breeze, Bamboo Town, Carmichael and the currently still unnamed “constituency 21” in the south of New Providence.
The Tribune article reports that the PLP believes it will win 10 or 11 of the 23 seats in New Providence, two of the five in Grand Bahama and about six of the ten in the Family Islands.
Constituency 21 will be made of the polling divisions from the old Golden Isles, South Beach and Blue Hills constituencies, and will hold about 4020 voters.
The exclusive article reports that “a leaked Boundaries Commission report – revealed by The Tribune yesterday – indicated Clifton, Kennedy and Eight Mile Rock have been recommended to be cut from the current slate of 41 constituencies bringing the total number of seats for the 2012 general election to 38.”
