FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – (December 15, 2011) – Silver Airways Corp, a new regional carrier launched with assets from the former Gulfstream International Airlines, took delivery of its first Saab 340Bplus aircraft today. Unveiled as the centerpiece of a special launch event held today at the carrier’s Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport headquarters, the modern, 34-seat aircraft is the first to feature the new Silver Airways livery.
A total of six Saab 340 aircraft will be integrated into the Silver Airways fleet between December 2011 and July 2012. Each aircraft will be subject to a period of inspection and certification under U.S. and Bahamian aviation regulations to ensure full compliance with all safety and operational requirements prior to initiating scheduled passenger service. In-service dates for the new aircraft type will be announced upon receipt of regulatory approvals. Once cleared, the aircraft will be deployed along the carrier’s Florida-Bahamas routes.
