The Governor General of the Bahamas presented with Bronze sculpture at the Government house by Bahamian Artist Tyler Johnston.
The Governor General recently visited the Johnston Art Studio’s in Little Harbour, Abaco and was given a tour of the Bronze casting foundry and artist studio.
The Bahamas National Monuments of Sir Milo Butler and The Bahamian Woman and Child were sculpted at the Little Harbour Art Studio.
Presenting the Bust is Bahamian Artist and filmmaker Tyler Johnston, Grandson of the International known sculptor Randolph Johnston. Recently Tyler Johnston’s short Movie “5 Bones” won the First Look award at the Bahamas International Film Festival.
Mr. Tyler Johnston is presenting the sculpture on behalf of his father Mr. Peter Johnston. The Sculpture of a Green Turtle was made in Little Harbour on Abaco, using an ancient Bronze casting technique. The studio in Little Harbour is the only bronze casting foundry in the Bahamas and has created special methods of casting Bronze that only exist in the Bahamas.
Johnston Studio’s is presenting the sculpture to the Governor General as a formal gift, thanking him for his visit to Little Harbour and for his acknowledgment of the valuable cultural contributions that Johnston have made to Bahamian society.
