Bahamian Biologists Become Reef Experts

National Lionfish Control Pilot Project

Biologists are in the front line when it comes to protecting our marine ecosystems from natural and human-driven threats.

This September 2011, 11 Bahamian biologists from six local organisations working on the National Lionfish Control Pilot Project made history by becoming the first Bahamians to achieve expert level status in the Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) Fish Survey Project.

The National Lionfish Control Pilot Project is part of a larger Caribbean initiative called “Mitigating the Threats of Invasive Alien Species in the Insular Caribbean” (MTIASIC).
