Nassau, Bahamas – Popular German reality television show Die Geissens filmed episodes in The Bahamas in late February and early March, after a local realtor attracted the multi-millionaire Geissen family to the country.
Gavin Christie of CA Christie Real Estate hosted reality television stars Robert Geissen, his wife, and two daughters as they searched for unique real estate, and toured some of the islands of The Bahamas.
After Geissen contacted Christie expressing interest in purchasing a luxury vacation home in The Bahamas, the realtor encouraged Geissen to film the prime time show during his visit.
“I saw it as a unique opportunity to tap into the German market, and showcase The Bahamas to that part of the world,” said Christie. “I believe the show can boost both the tourism and real estate industries by luring thousands to the country during and long after the show is on air.”
Season Two of Die Geissens had more than 20 million viewers throughout Europe. Producers expect Season Three to be an even bigger success. The show has been compared to the American reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
When the show’s third season airs in Europe later this year, the sun, sand, sea and culture of The Bahamas will be showcased in millions of homes throughout Germany, and in other European countries.
Tourism officials have endorsed the initiative, and hope it will entice Europeans who have not yet considered The Bahamas as a vacation destination.
The Geissens took in many of The Bahamas’ wonderful experience during their visit. Their activities included enjoying Junkanoo, swimming with pigs and stingray in Exuma, exploring Atlantis, having dinner in the famous wine cellar of Graycliff’s Restaurant and touring downtown Nassau.
