AT THE SUMMIT — U.S. President Obama (front row 5th from left) and Deputy Prime Minister Brent Symonette (back row 5th from left) joined 32 other Heads of State and Government from the region in the Sixth Summit of the Americas held in Cartagena, Columbia on April 14-15.
The Summit, which occurs every three years, offers the opportunity for countries throughout the Americas to jointly define a hemispheric agenda at the highest level to address urgent challenges and propel positive change.
The central theme of this year’s Summit was “Connecting the Americas: Partners for Prosperity” with a focus on the role of regional cooperation in overcoming the Hemisphere’s greatest challenges, including poverty and inequality, citizen security, natural disasters and access to technology.
