The incredibly unprofessional Sidney Stubbs was named as Chairman of Bahamas Agricultural And Industrial Corporation yesterday in a lackluster ceremony that did not include the Prime Minister or Stubb’s boss Leslie Miller.
The PM and Mr. Miller ducked the conference because they apparently do not fully support the Stubbs appointment, after Mr. Stubbs embarrassed the PLP government by victimizing seven FNM employees last week. The employees were subjected to highly unprofessional treatment and improper dismissals. It has been rumored that the PM may relieve Mr. Stubbs from his post very quickly.
Why wait?
It is becoming increasingly clear that our PM may be nothing but a puppet for the legions of old and corrupt PLPs who truly control his party and our government.
Anyone with their own brain or a sense of decency would have nipped Mr. Stubb’s appointment in the bud. To allow it to go even this far is bad judgment that will return to haunt the PM and the PLP. This incident only proves the PM’s inability to control his party in the face of pressure from the old guard.
The longer the PM delays in firing Stubbs, the more the Bahamian people will realize that they made a very big mistake on May 2.
