BFSB Elects New Chairman

Michael L. Paton was elected Chairman of The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB). He succeeds Ian Fair who has relinquished his position in accordance with the rules of the BFSB.

Michael Paton is a Senior Partner at Lennox Paton, Counsel and Attorneys-at-Law and is the head of the firm’s Financial Services Group. Paton is also a qualified Certified Public Accountant.

“I look forward to the challenge of leading the BFSB and it is my intention to endeavor to be a worthy successor to Fair, whose indefatigable efforts while chairman of BFSB, have been critical to the success of the BFSB todate.

“I look forward to developing a strong working relationship with the Minister of Financial Services and Investment as there are numerous issues that must be dealt with in the near future.

“I also hope to work with the Minister and industry leaders to develop proactive and effective measures which will lead to the continued development of The Bahamas as a leading offshore financial center.”

Bruno Roberts, Client Operation Officer of the Private Trust Corporation Limited was elected Deputy Chairman of the BFSB.
