About 75 persons attended the extremely successful seminar from a wide cross section of local businesses, and various government agencies and private sector industries.
The e-business programme presented by IBM Bahamas Limited, was customized to the local market and delivered by 2 experienced IT professionals.
The goal of the programme was quite simple: to raise customer executive awareness of IBM’s total software strategy and how to leverage IBM software to gain competitive advantages.
The agenda included an overview presentation of the IBM software for e-Business strategy and portfolio, followed by a series of compelling presentations and live application demonstrations that highlighted business and functional area, including:
- Applications and Content (Transaction and Collaborative Servers, Content management and Tools);
- Business Integration (Web Services and Process Management);
- User Experience (Portals and Access Interfaces);
- Management of the Web Application Infrastructure;
- Development (Tools and Best Practices).
The content of the programme was updated to highlight significant features and benefits from the latest products available. Businesses can actually implement applications like those shown in the live demonstrations, since IBM built them using current or soon to be released IBM software products.
At the end of the presentation, customers had a clear understanding of IBM’s capabilities and experience in providing the best e-business infrastructure and solutions for their organization. IBM understands the process of becoming an e-business. They’ve helped over 18,000 businesses successfully leverage the Internet. With their broad industry-specific expertise, innovative products and technologies, broad consulting services and financing capabilities; IBM is here to help organizations maximize value as an e-business.
Felix Stubbs, IBM Bahamas Limited CEO & General Manager commented that he was extremely happy with the response not only from IT Executives but from the CEO’s and Business Managers of the various entities. “Our edge globally and locally is our ability to recognize that today; customers are finally driving the direction of the information technology industry,” said Stubbs. “Gone are the days when business solutions are driven only through ‘technologists talking to technologists’. “Today business people know and understand the importance of information technology to everything they want to do.”
Earlier this year, IBM Bahamas Ltd. was selected as Caribbean North District (CND) Country of the Year for 2001. It was evident then as it is now, that the superior performance in all key areas was significant enough to beat out all other competing countries – (Barbados, Bermuda, Eastern Caribbean, Guyana, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Trinidad & Suriname) that fall in the Caribbean North District.
Francois-Marie Bourque, Manager, Marketing Operations, IBM Bahamas Limited said that IBM has always stayed on the edge of excellent communication channels between themselves and the end consumer through the one on one relationships and seminars like the one held this month.
“This further shows our smart transition and transformation of our companies from an office products provider to an IBM responsive to its customers needs, selling and supporting leading edge solutions for all customers and industries by offering a combination of hardware, software, networking equipment, implementation services, all integrated to form complete solutions,” Bourque said. “This is the IBM of the 21st Century that The Bahamas can count on.”
According to Errol Bodie, e-Business Sales Specialist, IBM will continue to host these informational seminars that will aim to position its customers with the cutting edge that they need to excel in their industries.
