Wyndham To Boost Profits

The Nassau Marriott Resort & Crystal Palace Casino is now a Wyndham property.

Stating that the management of the Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino is very excited about the change, General Manager Robert Sands noted that there was a mutual agreement to separate from Marriott.

An outstanding veteran hotelier, Mr. Sands said that a major purpose for the switch was to identify a brand that would reposition the hotel to generate fundamental revenue. Likewise he said this would assist the hotel with achieving a better level of profitability.

Now a part of the largest U.S. based hotelier in the Caribbean, the 850-room resort will still have all of its current management and staff in place and daily operations will be conducted as usual.

Mr. Sands said it was not about the hotel’s new name but about the contents of a contractual agreement.

“The ones that we have now entered into with Wyndham are more favourable,” Mr. Sands told The Guardian. “You see, it was not that we were not happy with our arrangements with the Marriott, but that Wyndham provided more favourable ones.”

The General Manager said that irrespective of the new brand, improvement of service has always been a feature of management.

“Branding basically gives us a good position in the market,” Mr. Sands said. “This allows us to be a more marketable product. It does not take control of the day to day operations or management of the property.”

He explained that this matter has already been invested in the present management team with service-thrust as a key element in the way they pursue improvement.

According to Mr. Sands, Wyndham is a leader in management of hotels in the Caribbean region. With the inclusion of the Wyndham Nassau Resort in their portfolio, they have become the largest representative of rooms within the Caribbean region.

Furthermore, Mr. Sands said Wyndham has earned a reputation for generating Caribbean enterprise with the ability of luring group businesses to Caribbean resorts. This, he expressed, augurs very well for the hotel.

“We believe that based on the way they generate transient business to hotel property and the fact that their recognition programme is not based on a rate, but rather on an amenity type programme on service,” he said, “when you rate all of those things together, it makes the relationship between Wyndham and ourselves a truly beneficial one.”

The Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino joins a prestigious portfolio of Wyndham Resorts in Puerto Rico, Orlando, Miami Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Key West, Jamaica, South Carolina, Aruba and St. Thomas.

As part of its newly-named resort’s rejuvenation, ongoing improvements are focusing on guest rooms, suites, restaurants, and public areas and landscaping.

The resort is also near completion of its exterior re-painting and roof restoration.
