Chamber Of Commerce Highlights Activities

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce in its continuing efforts to represent the views of the private sector business community and its interests to the public sector is once again making plans for its annual week of activities. The week is scheduled for May 11 οΎ– May 17, 2003 and Mrs. Tanya Wright chairs the Coordinating Committee.

In representing the views of the business community, the Week of Activities is specifically organised each year to “highlight Chamber activities, its objectives and its role in the community”, and in keeping with that objective, in addition to the much acclaimed Outstanding Business Awards Banquet which culminates the week, in its efforts to provide the community with a clear picture of the kinds of projects the Chamber promotes throughout the year, the committee is again incorporating a business aptitude drill, an arts appreciation exercise specifically for the youth of the nation; an educational business forum; luncheon and several other diverse and informative activities.

Focusing on the current international initiatives, i.e. the Bahamas Government’s Accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Free Trade Areas of the Americas (FTAA) Agreement and the Caribbean International Community (CARICOM) efforts in that regard; the impact all of this will have on our economy, and the new way of living it portends for the Bahamas, its people, culture and history; the committee is attempting to tie this all together to assist the community in its understanding of how this will all play out in our communities.
