Actions Speak

All claims for the efficacy of last weekend’s revival aside, it’s no secret that the crime rate is rising in this country.

But rather than deal with the issue head-on, the emphasis to this point has been on talk rather than action. So there’s nothing but good going to come out of Mother Pratt’s new 12-step plan to put the brakes on runaway crime.

The suspension Tuesday of music-making for the 72-man Royal Bahamas Police Force Band after 110 years may be more symbolic than useful, but there’s no knocking the sentiment behind it.

All the words in the world couldn’t replace some real action to fight the wave of crime sweeping the nation. It was time to pull those heads out of the sand.
