Aitken Imaging Introduces Photographic Printer Unique In The Bahamas

Andrew Aitken Imaging has just acquired a state-of-the-art solvent printer, used in the creation of outdoor signs and banners. The new state-of-the-art printer, which is capable of printing up to 16 million colours, makes it possible to incorporate photographs on outdoor signage, and delivers particularly long-lasting results.

“This technology will make a significant difference to our clients who need durable outdoor signs or banners,” said Andrew Aitken, President and CEO of Aitken Imaging. “For approximately the same price as cut vinyl, it is now possible to have photographic images on outdoor signage and the choice from a near-infinite range of colours. The fact that these signs are highly weather-resistant is also a huge benefit.”

Traditionally, the colour choices with cut vinyl signs are very limited, and customers need to pay for each additional colour they use, which can get expensive. This new technology does away with those limitations, while offering a print quality that is far more resilient than that of the older, wide-format inkjet printers.

The solvent printer can be used to make three types of products: solvent banners tough enough to withstand Bahamian weather; mesh banners for high-wind areas; and solvent decals and bumper stickers. Mesh banners allow wind to blow right through them, eliminating the need to cut wind vents into a sign, which can soil its graphic look. The solvent decals can be small, or large enough to wrap around vehicles or serve as billboards. All of these products will last a long time outdoors – anywhere from one to three years if unprotected, and up to five years if they are laminated.

“This new technology opens up a whole new world of possibilities to our clients. The solvent printer products compete directly with U.S. prices and we can offer the same-day turnaround time on most orders,” said Aitken. “We are proud to provide some of the highest level of digital products and services available in the world, and the introduction of this new printers is part of that. As always, our goal is to continue to be first in making the latest in image technology available to our customers right here at home.”
