Defending Youth and Culture Minister Neville Wisdom, Attorney General Alfred Sears said the money spent on Junkanoo could not compare to the thousandsof dollars that stakeholders in the parade have invested of their own self sacrifice.
Mr. Sears made the statement during his contribution to the debate on the Junkanoo report in The House of Assembly yesterday.
“It is within this context that in the first time in Junkanoo that we have organisers and the government taking a risk to set up a safe infrastructure and be in an environment that is comfortable and the average person in this society can appreciate,” said Mr. Sears.
He called the organisation of the 2002/2003 parade the beginnings of a paradigm shift.
