Endorsing a top position in the United Nations for a Bahamian permanent secretary has forced the government to shuffle more top civil servants and officials have vowed to make an even more comprehensive review.
The changes are affecting key government ministries.
On Monday, Prime Minister Perry Christie announced that outgoing Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Missouri Sherman-Peter was being seconded as the head of Cabinet to the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
It left officials to consider a replacement.
The government has decided that the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Patricia Rodgers will replace Mrs. Sherman-Peter.
Plans have been made for the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Financial Services and Investments Colin Higgs to be transferred to the Ministry of Tourism.
His position will be filled by the now Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Sheila Carey.
The Undersecretary in the Office of the Attorney General Harrison Thompson will become the new Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.
The changes will take effect Monday.
A government spokesman said further changes in top civil servants posts are expected soon.
He said Prime Minister Perry Christie is committed to the most efficient organization of human resources in the public sector to achieve the government’s objectives moving forward.
